Steve Schwartz hit the proverbial nail when he said:

In Chicago, although Melinda Wagner's name may not be a household word,
her highly accessible music has been very well received. In January
of 1995, the C.S.O. (under Barenboim) performed her work for orchestra
titled "Falling Angels". I distinctly remember being impressed by the
Jan. 12 performance, and noting that here was a composer to look out for.
Besides, she studied with a teacher who is also a good friend, how could I
not like her music?
