I thought I was commenting on the demerits of using classical music as a
background for movies...

There is a part of me that feels the same way for I guess it might foster
more creativity in film.

I dislike the overall use of sound in movies today. It isn't just a
question of amplitude, but it is the "hyper-realism" of the sound and
image. As for the aspect of manipulation...I believe that a part of any
art is exploitation. It has some "hook" which brings you into the artist's
world.

The main reason I dislike music in a film is that I find that I listen to
the music and am too aware of the effect the music has on my perception of
the image. On the other hand, many educational psychologists tell us that
we remember better what we see versus what we hear.
