Now that we all know what "farcical" means, I'd like to say that it is the
farcical qualities of Haydn's music that I don't appreciate; just personal
taste.

Karl Miller was commenting on the merits of using classical music as
background for movies. What I prefer in a movie is no music at all. All
attention goes to the movie itself - a natural presentation. So often,
music is used to anticipate for viewers a change in movie pacing or mood;
I really dislike that exploitative technique.
