As to Tcherepnin- yes, the first symphony's scherzo is for percussion
alone.

As to Tansman- there was the chance, brief, of a rediscovery a few years
ago, when the Dutch label Etcetera released CD sets of his piano sonatas
and sonatinas and of his string quartets.  .Wonderful. stuff, well worth
hearing, at least the string quartets (haven't heard the piano set).  If
you like the Villa-Lobos quartets, these are similarly enthralling.
But... no one bit. Sigh.

Well, it's not over until it's over.  Any string quartets want to add
something really neat to their repertoire?
