Chopin is indeed one of my favourite composers.
Concerning Henrik preferences, Im in a different direction of performances,
such as:
- polonaises: Witold Malcuzynski on EMI-Angel, unquestionably, though not
well known, and A. Harasiewicz (Philips).
- Etudes: Ashkenazy (London), Cziffra (EMI), Richter (several Op. 10) (RCA);
- Preludes: Pogorelich
- Sonatas: Op. 35, Ashkenazy (live performance - London) and Pogorelich
(DG); Op. 58 Ashkenazy (London).
- Waltzes and Mazurcas: Malcuzynski again (EMI) and Horowitz (mazurcas only
- CBS)
- Scherzos and Baladen: Pogorelich (Scherzo n# 3 - DG), Ashkenazy, Horowitz,
Zimmerman and others.
By the way, Tadeusz, are there in Poland any recordings of Malcuzynski on
Polish labels? Im really interested on that, ok?
All the best,
Marcos Benechis
