There is also some contention that the opening theme of the last movement
of Haydn's last symphony (#104) is of Balkan origin (it may also be
English, or neither of these).  Robbins Landon's notes to the Dorati
series of Haydn symphony recordings mentions many Slavonic and Hungarian
influences.
