Dear Bee Listers,
I am working on a fiberglass beehive for use in our hot and wet tropical
climate. It promises to have many advantages. No repainting, wood rot,
termite damage. Lightweight. Good thermal properties. Standard, because it
will use one mold.
It rained 650 cms. in three days last week and the inside of my prototype
remained dry. Venting is controlled by screened holes and sliders.
I am trying to get it rigid enough to be stacked two doubles high for
moving. It also has a built in travelling screen for long hauls.
Question: Do I have to make it totally opaque? This will be expensive. Can
bees do well in a transluscent beehive?
