The ever-loquacious Michael Tilson Thomas spoke to the SF Symphony audience
tonight in Davies Hall, at the beginning of yet another series of live
recordings for BMG Classics (Copland: `Billy,' `Appalachia,' `Our Town,'
`Rodeo.)

Explaining the presence of mikes and asking the audience to participate
by keeping quiet, MTT proudly reported that the previous triple-CD in the
series (Stravinsky: `Firebird,' `Rite,' `Persephone') is already No. 7
on the classical charts.

Pause. Big smile.

`And the others (the top six) are such as the Three Tenors singing their
mothers' recipes.'
