Steven Schwartz asks:

>Is late Carter dodecaphonic?

No. Carter is often lumped in with the 12-toners, though he has never
(to my knowledge) written a twelve-tone work. The only use of a row is
a 73-note row in the Variations for Orchestra. All of his mature music
uses intervals and unordered sets for the pitch material.
