Are the Lieberman flute and piccolo concertos the ones he wrote
respectively for James Galway and Jan Gippo? I know that Leonard Slatkin
publically bad-mouthed a concerto that he conducted for Galway as the worst
piece he'd ever had to conduct, and that the St. Louis Symphony's piccolo
player Jan Gippo went ahead and commissioned the same composer. If the
piano concertos are any indication I would be surprised if Lieberman's
flute concerto was as bad as Slatkin says it is.
