I would really like to find either a score or recording (or even a
little information) of a very elusive work by Mahler... well, Mahler and
Beethoven. Mahler rescored and reorchestrated (are those two different
things?) Beethoven's 5th and 9th, and a few overtures. Does anyone know if
these are just minor adjustments (like changes for valve-horn), or if he
put his own touches on them? If the changes are pretty major, I think it'd
be fascinating to see what one of the great orchestrators did with some
early Romantic, small orchestra music.
