No one has mentioned him yet, so I'll throw out the name of my favorite
countertenor, David Hurley. He's currently the top voice of The King's
Singers, sang at New College Oxford, and did freelance work before becoming
a Singer. He has done some work with the Gabrieli Consort and Players,
namely their "Venetian Vespers" and "Music for San Rocco". Both can be had
through amazon.com, I believe. The purest countertenor voice I've ever
heard, not thick or overly warbly, but 100% spot-on.
