I am no chemist but I really wonder whether Allen appreciates the hazards of
using formic acid, oxalic acid as well.
In my slide library are pictures of a young fellow with a large proportion
of the flesh burnt from his legs, another of a beekeeper with flesh hanging
from his fingers and quite a few supplied by an ophthalmic surgeon of eye
damage, all caused by one of the above mentioned so called, "soft
chemicals". (Sorry no copies available of these slides.)
I also understand that thymol crystals, which are extremely small, can
easily cause blindness.
Maybe beekeepers, or chemists who know of others that have been injured by
any of these substances might like to post that knowledge on this list.
Having recently been accused of irresponsible use of the approved chemical
strips is accepted but what I have just been reading regarding the handling
of 55 gallon containers of a murderous substance requires far more
justification.
