Foss's "Phorion" is the third movement of his collection "Baroque
Variations." He was scheduled to conduct the complete work in St.  Louis
once, and at the last minute he substituted his then-new "Folk Song for
Orchestra." (Suffice it to say it was no trade.) "Phorion" just might be
the ticket for those who don't think that they like 20th century music.
