There's a very obvious answer to the grouped works of "6" tendency.  Six
baroque works often fit neatly on 1 cd, six classical and early romantic
chamber works fit well on 2 or 3 cd's.  Those master composers certainly
had "vision."

Seriously, I think these trends are primarily "copies" of what has been
done before.  I know of no technical or interpretative justification for
"6" grouping.
