Actually i am working with the Mozart Sonata KV 330. I am a bit clueless
about the tempo of the second movement. The Problem:

My teacher claims that it should be played at least with 69 beats per
minute; it is andante cantabile. I feel that it should be played far
slower. Maria Joao Pires plays it with something like tempo 48, Horowitz
made in Moscow something like 56, but in any case far under the tempo which
my teacher is recommending to me.

She is indeed a very good pianist, that is not the problem, but i do not
know why she wants the movement to be played with such a high speed....?!?

It is maybe a question of taste, of the personal view.

I would be interested in the tempi which are played by Gulda, Brendel, the
older ones, any "authorities" in relation to Mozart.

And much mure i am interested in one thing:

Your very appreciated opinion.

Cheers,

Norman Reppingen, Germany, who has no fun with fast played "slow
movements".
