The Victoria Symphony's principal tuba, Eugene Dowling, recorded it on the
Pro Arte label a few years back with the LSO (the rest of the disc is also
tuba stuff, unusually).
RVW apparently simplified the solo part because the first soloist (name?)
couldn't play what was written. 'Gene consutled the manuscript (I think
it's in the Br. Mus.) before making his recording.
What I don't know is whether he was the first so to do...
