As is the Naxos Barber of Seville as good as any at any price... I have
a list of at least 100 Naxos CD's that are arguably as good as any other
recording company's releases, regardless of price...
I think reviewers are just caught up in a cliche comment when they mention
price... many are still embarrassed to name Naxos as a top recording
company due to that cheap price, when in actuality, Naxos has some of the
best engineers, production staff, and artist searches...
Naxos has close to 2,000 recordings out there... at least 400 of which
have received accolades from either Grammophone, Classic CD, Penguin,
FanFare or one of the other respected authorities...
And I think it is due to the incredibly good staff of engineers,
technicians, artists, producers, and the way they develop their staff...
Naxos keeps getting better and better. They make a few mistakes, but all
in all, they produce damn good music.
And how many other recording companies give their recording artists final
approval of the work after the master is completed. This is a first class
company that treats its artists and its employees well. Anybody who
doesn't know that is just cheating their own collection. Each disc
represents great numbers of hours and people and excellence.
When I look and lisen at the incredible range of music from early early to
20th century, the new Opera series, the new American classic series, I am
very proud of this company that has found a way to do things cheaply enough
to give everyone access to fine classical music.
