I will stick my neck on the chopping block and recommend Geo.  Szell
and the Cleveland Orchestra.  I have a handful of Eroicas and this is
the one recording I come back to again and again.  His transversal of
the symphonies should not be ignored either.  He achieved a rare balance
of intellect and emotion.
