It is very worthwhile investigating other Dvorak Quartets besides the
"American." I especially love the Eb, Op. 51, and the E Major, Op. 27.
There are wonderful performances of these and others by the Prague Quartet.
And do not neglect their performance of the Cypresses, and the two Waltzes,
Op. 54. For the patient searcher, there is an unearthly performance of
the E Major on LP only by the Dvorak Quartet, well named, on Supraphon.
Someone should reissue their performances. Try also the Op. 34, Op. 105
and 106 quartets.
