I thought the film held back anything significant and insightful concerning
Jackie's artistic development.  This was a major weakness of the movie.  It
would have been much better if the "middle" section concerning the trivial
family goings-on had been replaced with a real close look at how her
artistic expertise developed.  I guess that the makers of the film thought
this close look would not be appreciated by most of the audience.  I don't
agree.  Great movie makers can make something totally boring look like an
exciting "ride." It just has to be done right.

The above is why I feel that the makers of the film "settled" for something
less than an excellent movie.  They didn't take any risks.
