Last week, I heard Marriner conduct the Seattle Symphony in Beatrice
and Benedict, Der Rosenkavalier Suite, and Hilary Hahn doing the
Brahms concerto. I suppose that it may be because of my ignorance
and insensitivity that I thought that he did an excellent job with the
orchestra selections and that he coordinated the orchestra with the solo
part in a way that certainly was beyond my criticism. I thought Ms. Hahn
was spectacular, by the way.
