In case anyone wants to look it up, the name is Gardner Read.
And I imagine that the first word of the title is "Principles":) Actually,
my Read book is just called Music Notation: A Manual of Modern Practice,
and it's excellent. I don't know if the book Aaron refers to is different
(I couldn't find it on Amazon).
