17 minutes is too long - I'm waiting for the 10 minute version having
judicious cuts which enhance the music's flow and eliminate all bombastic
passages. The problem with the 17/18 minute performance is that 'I' end
up feeling like the slaughtered one.
I don't really see anything wrong with an artist owning "that" piece of
music. To me, it just means that the listener feels that the artist and
work are as "one." Sounds okay to me, even better.
