In addition to Tom Connors recollection Boston area record stores have
an interesting chapter in addition to the Coop in Cambridge. There was
a marvelous emporium in Back Bay at the corner of Boylston and Berkeley
Streets called the Book Clearing House. A true labor of love, they were a
full stocking store for classical records with a great book collection on
the three floors above street level records. Alas, one of the principals
passed in the early? 60's and his successors decided to call it quits.
Nothing in the Boston area has equalled their combination of stock,
service, knowledge, committment and prices in the thirty five years since.
