The English language has a terrible habit of laying its dirty mitts on
words from other languages (including Swedish -- "smorgasbord," etc.), and
when it does so, it does horrible things to the sounds of those words. But
it's too late; speakers of the donating languages can't complain. It's now
an English word, and we get to pronounce it any way we like. (By the way,
all the other languages in the world do exactly the same thing.)
It seems to me that one is permitted to pronounce "rodeo" either way--the
listeners will readily understand which musical work you are referring to.
