I read someplace that B took some of his inspiration from F. Certainly
that could be the case but I seriously doubt he was ever a "pupil." I've
never heard of it anyhow.
While I'm at it I might as well say that while I love F I've never cared
much for B as a conductor. Maybe it goes to show that aping someone's
mannerisms (I'm talking about musical not gestural) is no guarantee they
will carry the same weight as the original.
