This assumes that a person can actually _read_ the score as opposed to
merely following it.  But I think there is considerable merit in following
a score, a relatively easy thing to do.  I would recommend that you listen
to a piece a few times without a score, then listen to it while following
the score.  This will reveal a wealth of detail that probabably went
unnoticed before.  But if you follow the score on first hearing, you may
miss the forest for the trees.  (Ouch!  Do I lose points for such a
cliche?)
