By an odd coincidence I was dubbing a tape of some Creston yesterday,
Monteux doing the Second Symphony with the Boston Symphony... Monteux's
performance of the Second with the New York Phil is still under
consideration for release by the Phil...which is the reason I was taping
the Boston Symphony performance, they wanted to compare.
While I find some of the work uneven, much of it I enjoy a great deal.
There is quite a bit in print these days:
Symphony No.2 (Jarvi) Chandos 9390
Symphony No.3 coupled with the delightful Partita (Schwarz) Delos 3114
Symphony No.5, etc. (Schwarz) Delos 3127
Quartet forn Strings (Hollywood Qt.) Testament 1053
Concerto for 2 Pianos and Orch. (Jonas & Pierce) Albany 112
Corinthians XIII (Whitney) Albany 021
And if you can find it...recently deleted
Walt Whitman Suite (Amos) Koch 7036 includes Symphony No.2 (ok
performance) and Corinthians XIII
I have a fair amount of his music in recording in my collection, list
below.
Anyone with other orchestral works of his, please let me know.
