Rott's Symphony clearly announces Mahler, but is obvious that it is too
long, too disparate and that it's not a work of a genius.  By the way, I
was listening once more to Brahms' 2nd Symphony yesterday evening.  I can't
stop thinking that if you play a bit slower the quiet passage before the
reexposition in the last movement you'll obtain the beginning of Mahler's
1st Symphony.
