On a repeated hearing from this morning I have to somewhat amend my
assessment that Boulez's Mahler 7th is anything but fast. Four of the
movements are in fact anything but fast. The fourth movement is quite
a bit faster than expected--almost a Roger Norrington andante.

As for Sinopoli, I heard most of his Mahler 1 on the radio a few weeks ago.
I found the interpretation quite quirky and not altogether convincing. If
the library comes up with some of his other Mahler recordings I may try
them but I'm not going to rush out to get them.
