As we started making lists (Three Greatest Works, Giants of the 20th
Century, Final Thoughts), what about voting for Gramophone's Ten Greatest
Classical Recordings of the 20th Century? You can nominate your ten
favourite recordings via the Gramophone web site on:

   http://www.gramophone.co.uk/

The nominations must inform Composer/Work/Artist(s)/Record
Company/Details/Number. Here is my list of favourites:

1. Beethoven/Symphony no. 9/Furtwangler/Tahra/Lucerne Festival.
2. Beethoven/Symphonies 5+7/C. Kleiber/DG 447 400-2.
3. Puccini/Tosca/Callas, Gobbi, Di Stefano/EMI/Callas Edition.
4. Wagner/The Ring/Sir G. Solti/DECCA/John Culshaw.
5. Mahler/Das Lied von Der Erde/Patzak, Ferrier/DECCA/414 194-2.
