PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES IN AUSTRALIA IN 2000

Australia 2000: Closer Than You Think is a program featuring amateur
performing groups from throughout the world. Performing groups may include
choirs, bands, orchestras, dance groups, theatre companies, drill teams,
baton twirlers, and more.

- The Sydney Royal Easter Show
14-29 April 2000
One and one-half million visitors attend one of Sydneys largest and most
unique events. The show takes place at Homebush Bay, the site for the 2000
Olympic Games. Large performing groups may appear in the Grand Parade,
Main Arena, (seating 16,000) or Millennium Park (seating 2,000). For
smaller groups or performers requiring more intimate settings, Presidents
Plaza and Olympic Plaza are appropriate options.

- The Olympic Torch Relay
8 June to 15 September 2000
Community celebrations will be held twice a day, during the 100-day relay
leading up to the Olympic Games in communities around Australia. In
addition to appearances during the Torch Relay, an exchange program
activity will be hosted by a local performing arts group and will take
place the day before. Later that day, visiting international groups will
be welcomed by local government leaders and will perform in a venue such
a concert hall, university theater, town hall, or church.

- Olympic and Paralympic Entertainment Program
17 August to 29 October 2000
Performances will be staged in venues associated with the Olympics as the
city comes alive with the spirit of the Games. SOCOG may choose to invite
a performing group to appear at the limited access Olympic Games site in
Homebush Bay, the Athletes Village, Olympic Training Sites, or as part of
the Olympic Arts Festival, Harbour of Life.

- Centenary of Federation Celebrations
January 2001
Beginning with the largest parade ever held in the Southern Hemisphere,
this major event celebrates the 100 years since the Australia Federation
was formed. On January 1st, 2001, the real dawning of the new millenium,
