A nice alternative (at least to these ears) is the Endellion Quartet's
recording on Virgin Classics.  It's a 2CD set that includes Op. 54 and Op.
74 (both sets of three quartets that, I would think, are the "must have"
list).  The playing is crisp and lively, and I picked it up a Borders for
about $12.
