Bill Karzas contributes:

So that leaves Rachmaninoff, Horowitz/Coates and possibly a later Horowitz.

Or: Gieseking/Barbirolli or Mengelberg, Kapell/MacMillan,
Malcuzynski/Kletzki, Flier/Khaikin or Kondrashin, Smith/Weldon,
Lympany/Collins, Gilels/Cluytens, Horowitz/Barbirolli, Horowitz/Walter,
Horowitz/Szell, Horowitz/Koussevitsky, Horowitz/Reiner, Bachauer/Sherman,...
can't think of anymore of the top of my head,...But if you want an excellent
version of the Rach 3rd, Gieseking, Horowitz/Barbirolli, Gilels/Cluytens, L.
Berman/Abbado, Gavrilov/Lazarev (grrrrr - still not available on CD),
Argerich/Chailly - any of these will be excellent choices.

Good luck!
