I'm looking for information (tips, articles, references) on the flint
source or sources, in Europe, for a spalled gunflint, honey-colored
chalcedony, prismatic blade with some retouch or use-wear along the working
edge of the blade.  My tendency is to call it a "French" gunflint, due to
the color of the stone, but there is some question that this flint may
predate the 18th century; in my limited experience, this color--source
distinction may not be true before that period?  The flint was found on the
surface, in a sand blowout with at least moderate disturbance, so it has
only a site-specific provenience.

Hope to hear from some folks in Europe, where this artifact most probably
