Some years ago (in the pre-electronic era), I posted a query in the SHA
Newsletter asking for information on the presence of non-U. S. coins in
U. S. archaeological contexts. I got a fair number of interesting and
useful responses, but now time has marched on and there are likely
newer finds that I would like to hear about. So, if you have found, or
know of others finding, non-U. S. coins in U. S. archaeological sites, I
would appreciate hearing about it. I would be especially interested in
coins found in well-dated contexts--contexts dated by means other than
the presence of the dateable coin itself, though any sort of find,
professionally excavated or even potted would be helpful.
I look forward to hearing from one and all.
Thank you,
Bob Keeler
