It has become one of my favorite pieces of that genre. As a fairly
well-accomplished amateur (or fairly under-accomplished professional),
I suspect one of the reasons it it not often performed is due to the
extraordinarily difficult piano part. Even the regularly-performing
professional pianists I talk to dread learning it.
