Many thanks to Thanh-Tam Le and Bill Karzas for their replies to my
enquiry.
Are there any other noteworthy composers from that area: Serbia, Croatia,
Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Macedonia, - and Kosovo?
For the list's information, I remember attending a show in Paris, France
years ago by a Yugoslav troupe of artists, musicians and folk dancers.
The introduction by the troupe leader went like this:
"We are Yugoslavia: 6 states, 5 republics, 4 languages, 3 religions, 2
alphabets - 1 heart, and we are here today to give it to you". The French
attendance rose up in one solid applause.
How times have changed! Maybe there is a way to turn the diversity from
the negative back to the great positive of yesteryears that it should have
remained. I wish music would help recognize the tremendous worth of
mankind.
