Hello, classical fans,:)

Sonos Handbell Ensemble, a professional ensemble under the artistic
direction of James Meredith, announces its annual general auditions in
in the San Francisco Bay area in July, 1999. All talented and committed
handbell ringers are encouraged to apply. Send all requests for
information to the address listed below.

Sonos Handbell Ensemble is now in its 9th year of making classical music
come alive for thousands of new audiences. The first of its three CDs on
the Well-Tempered Productions label was entered into the Grammy nominations
for numerous categories in 1995. It's most recent recording, "Classical
Sonos," features music of Bach, Vivaldi, and Mozart. Our (hopefully)
upcoming CD will again focus on great music, as we turn towards classical
Christmas repertoire, including movements from Bach's "Magnificat" and
"Christmas Oratorio," "Messiah," and, of course, "Nutcracker," among
others.

Recent appearances include two performances on "A Priaire Home Companion"
and repeat visits to "West Coast Live." Last December found a Sonos concert
featured on NPR's "Performance Today." Sonos has premiered new music for
handbells and orchestra with the Oakland East Bay Symphony under Michael
Morgan, appeared with the San Jose Symphony under Joann Falletta, the San
Francisco Symphony Chorus under Vance George; Sonos is scheduled with the
Napa Valley Symphony under Asher Raboy this December.

Sonos' aim is to move handbells into the musical mainstream and to become
the first fully professional handbell ensemble. If you are excited by
making music at the highest level on this young instrument, come to the San
Francisco Bay area and be a part of the future of handbell ringing.
