French pianist and teacher Jeanne-Marie Darre died last Tuesday, at the
age of 93.

Born in Givet (in the French Ardennes) on the 30th of July, 1905, she made
her debuts in Paris in 1920, after studying at the Paris Conservatoire
(under Marguerite Long and Isidore Philipp). She was well known for her
performances of Saint-Saens' concertos, but I guess that these recordings
are quite difficult to find now. A few years ago, her 1929 recording of
d'Indy's "Symphonie cevenole" was reissued in a Timpani 4CD set featuring
Albert Wolff and the Orchestre Lamoureux.
