I appreciate Aaron Rabushka's point that the Haitink Shostakovich 15
is in his view terminally sober, but it also has in the first movement a
marvelous wit and pulse.  Also, the sonics of the Decca LP of the Haitink
15 (one of the last analog Deccas from Kingsway Hall, I think) is fantastic
(even in my latter day Holland pressing).
