Didn't Louis Lortie record the complete Beethoven? I heard him only
play two or three sonatas from the first and beginning of the second
book. It was excellent. Don't forget to take Pollini's recordings into
consideration - in particular the "Hammerklavier". He is one of the best
- if not the best - living Beethoven performers. O yes, if you are a fan
of Friedrich Gulda, he recorded a complete set for Grammophone - in DGG's
post-Kempfian years.
