Hooray for this recalling of the brilliance of Ernie Kovacs in
choreographing "serious" music in his show. In addition to the Bartok (I
think it was the first movement not the second, but it's been years since
I saw the episode in a documentary on the comedian) Kovacs did a brilliant
first movement of Beethoven Fifth Symphony to a poker game! There were
others too, of more popular tunes, with inanimate objects moving in time
to the music. Kovacs was 25 years ahead of his time when he did his shows.
Viewing them today makes it clear he's still 25 years ahead of what's on TV
right now.
