While I wouldn't recommend it as a sole PARSIFAL, it's certainly worth
owning.  Boulez' way with the score is considerably swifter and more
transparent than the norm - it makes quite a contrast with Knappertsbusch
or Levine.  Boulez' cast is quite good; Gwyneth Jones had just begun the
wobbly phase of her career (which has now lasted about three decades), but
here the problems are still only intermittent.  Her screams are absolutely
chilling, BTW.
