I get these same exact feelings whenever I have a migraine headache.
Actually, I do get these feelings when I listen to music unless my mind
is elsewhere; it that case, I'm only hearing it.

I agree with John that the music professional has a responsibility to
delve deeply into the music; the layperson has no musical responsibilities
at all.  Whether these responsibilities and job requirements lead to
anything of a profound nature depends on the individual.  I do want to say
that John's writings in ARG and his postings on this list definitely place
him in the "profound" category.

Just one more thing.  How many fibers are in each inner ear?  Do we all
have the same number, or do the musically enlightened have more of them?
