Hello, lactnetters,
Your comment and assistance would be appreciated regarding either or both
of the following as I have not found anything in the archives:
One situation brought to my notice - mother of twins, with strep B breast
infection, her doctor has advised that she not breastfeed, to express and
throw her milk away. (Incidentally the babies have been off the breast for
three weeks and Mum has difficulty getting them back on the breast!!!)
My question is, can you put me in touch with any reference material
regarding strep B in particular in regard to breast infections, or can
someone tell me if the doctor's concern has some merit?
Second situation - mothers with general oedema after delivery and obvious
oedema of the breast often have delayed lactogenesis.
First question, can anyone suggest reference material that is relevant to
this? An interesting association may be low albumin level.
So second question is, do you know of any study or references looking at
this aspect?
Please email me privately as well with replies
