We use Neocate rarely in the NICU with short gut baby, severe feeding
intolerance, etc. when breastmilk is not available. I am pushing for the use
of banked breastmilk instead, but it is not as easy to get (yet!). It is an
elemental formula (!00% synthetic amino acids) meant for TERM infants. It is
"indicated " for use in cow milk allergy, multiple food protein intolerance,
and soy formula and protein hydrolysate (alimentum, nutramigen, pregestimil)
intolerance. You can obtain info and references from the manufacturer SHS at
1-800-365-7354 or FAX 301-963-7026.
