"Women with c-sect - Sent home on day 3 with Tylenol
Husband after vasectomy - 4 days worth of percocett (sp?)
What's wrong with this picture?"
It's seen too often! I'd laugh myself out of my chair if it weren't so
totally pathetic!
My theory (one of many) about doctors and pain control is that for many MDs
it seems to be "out of sight, out of mind". People go home from surgery now
so soon (day 3 seems usual for C/S, often even less for hysterectomies); the
mindset (not of ALL, thank God!) seems to be that pain at home is somehow
different than pain in the hospital - i.e. a 4-day post-op in hosp. would
still be getting 2 Percocet every 4-6 hrs., but a 3-day post-op @ home gets
2 Tylenol. How much sense does that make?
Cathy Bargar, a firm believer in NOT suffering in silence! A confirmed pest
when it comes to adequate pain relief!
