Oversimplifying, monophysitism is the doctrine that Christ had only one
divine nature.

A bit like North American historical archaeology and anthropology.

Monophysitism was denounced as a heresy at the Council of Chalcedon in
the 4th century, although it still forms a core component of Egyptian
Coptic theology.  Anthropology, to the best of my knowledge, has never
been denounced by an Oecumenical Council of the Church.  More's the
pity.

Arianism, incidentally, is the doctrine that holds to the primacy of
Christ's humanity. This is also a heresy, as denounced by our apparent
patron (or one of them), Saint Damasus.
